The focal length is the distance between the focus lens and the
thinnest point of the laser beam (focus). The focal length with
the laser robot ROBOCUT is around 2.5“, 3.75“ or 5“. Special focal
lengths of 7.5" are also feasible. With the laser system
FLACS.SCAN, the focal lengths are around 600 - 800 mm. Note
that with the focal length, the greater the focal length -
especially with the scanner - the larger the working area. The
disadvantage, however, is that a larger focus diameter is formed
with a longer focal length, which in turn negatively affects the
results of cutting or the cutting speeds. The optimal focal length
can usually only be determined in experiments.
