For metal laser welding, a laser performance of 4 - 8 KW is set.
Both fibre lasers and CO2 lasers can be used with the RWS-Flex
system. During the remote welding process, for example, the
laser beam is focussed via a reflecting mirror on two overlapping
metal parts. The first material is welded to the second material
through the high energy. The advantage here is that many weld
seams can be attached to the component very fast.
With plastic laser welding, the transmitted light method is mainly
used. i.e. a material is transparent for the laser and the other
material is absorbent. In this way, the components are welded in
the middle. This welding can done, for example, by the laser
robot ROBOCUT together with a GLOBOWELD cutting head or by
a laser welding system FLACS.SCAN. The harmonious material
combination is important. Both materials can appear black to the
eye.
